Event: Emerald City Comicon 2012
This weekend Seattle became the Mecca for Sci-Fi and Fantasy fans as the Emerald City Comicon 2012 (ECCC 2012) took place at the Convention Center. Thousands of visitors, many with gorgeous costumes, traversed along comic booths and long lines for food. It turned out we were lucky to get our tickets early morning on Saturday, as around mid-day the organizers either stopped selling, or throttled down the sale.
Just to name some of the costumes, as there were many, many others:
- Star Wars (Twi’lek, Imperial Trooper, Princess Leia, Bounty Hunter)
- Spaceballs (Barf, Lord Helmet)
- Ghostbusters
- Mass Effect (Geth)
- Dr Who (himself, Weeping Angel, Blue Box)
- Portal (Chell)
- Half-Life (headcrab)
- Marvel Comics (Thor, Captain America, Batman, Wonder Woman, Batgirl, Catwoman, Joker, Two-Face, Galactus, Silver Surfer, Harlequin)
- The Hunger Games (Katniss)
- Futurama (Bender, Fry, Leela, Gender Bender)
- others (Buzz Lightyear, Codex from The Guild, Mr Rogers as zombie, Babydoll from Sucker Punch, World of Warcraft, Labyrinth, Death Eater from Harry Potter, Minecraft, Ichi the Killer, Wraith from Stargate Atlantis)
On the 4th floor there was a huge display of characters and scenes from movies made entirely of LEGO blocks – I must admit, LEGO came a long way since my childhood, evolved into something adored by both adults and children alike. I’m really looking forward to the BrickCon 2012, which will take place on October 6th at Seattle Center Exibition Hall 🙂
