I’ve known Erika for quite some time – she’s my wife’s friend – and in late August I had her model for me in her wedding dress (yup – she’s married – sorry guys! We met in the Seattle’s Gas Works Park, weather was great, though a few more clouds on the sky wouldn’t hurt. There were few other photographers working with their clients/models which made some of the shots difficult to achieve (but I guess it worked both ways, ha ha!). Anyway, here are two shots I really liked from that day – enjoy!
In the beginning, there was water .. Kim & I met on Deviantart.com around mid-June where we talked about possibly doing an underwater photoshoot together. Due to conflicting schedules, it took us several tries, but we finally managed to plan one for the beginning of July. So I packed my gear and drove to Silverdale where Kim & I shot throughout the night in a pool. Underwater photography might sound easy but in reality it requires a lot of work. Camera gear is clunky (that includes underwater housing with two big strobes) and heavy to carry around. Water itself, though warm to the touch, will be freezing by the end of the shoot – and that’s even in a 3mm wet suit! Focusing is an issue and holding a pose close to impossible. But after several hours and 4 Double Shot Espressos from Starbucks we finished – I packed my gear and drove home while listening to loud music to not fall asleep behind the wheel. Sadly, due to unforeseen circumstances I wasn’t able to process those photos until recently (I’m so sorry Kim!) but finally managed to work on some photos during the Thanksgiving weekend- and here they are.
We met with our friends, Sat and Janice, again on Sunday to finish Jhet’s newborn photo session. Baby was cooperative and we manage to get many shots done. Jhet managed to mark his territory and show who was boss by peeing on his father. We will post more photos as they are finished processing.
Our friends Janice and Sat welcomed their second child last week and asked us to capture their new addition to the family. Baby behaved very well sleeping most of the time and peed only twice on our props – LOL! – but that’s how newborns are We will be doing another shoot on Sunday. Below are some of the photos captured today. More to come soon.
How did Seattlelites spend their July 9th weekend? Some went to see a movie, some relaxed at home, while some spent their morning running at the Seattle’s first 10K Mud Run called The Dirty Dash. The weather was gorgeous (for Washington) and there were a lot of participants willing to get low and dirty while running through obstacles like Big Pig Climb, Hog Wallow and Pig Pen and many more Who knows – perhaps I will participate in the Spokane version of the run (if weather (and time) permits that is) – it takes place on August 20th 2011.
